MANHEIM, Pa. – Five Ouachita wrestlers were named to the 2026 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) NCAA Division II Scholar-Athlete All-America Team.

Ouachita’s five honorees include juniors Caleb Andrews, Sam Schmidt and BK Seago, along with freshmen Ethan Day and Ty Matyja. To qualify, wrestlers must compete in at least four competitions and maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA. The requirement adjusts to 3.25 for national qualifiers and 3.0 for wrestlers who achieve All-America honors at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships.

Andrews compiled a 12-11 record at 149 pounds with six dual victories. The Belle Chasse, Louisiana native is majoring in computer science with a minor in mathematics. Andrews is the lone Tiger to have earned Scholar All-America recognition for the second consecutive season. Schmidt posted a 5-15 record at 165 pounds. The Tuttle, Oklahoma native is majoring in finance with a minor in kinesiology and exercise science.

Seago finished his junior campaign as a national qualifier at heavyweight with a team-best 16-7 record. He claimed the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association Wrestler of the Week twice after securing the first ranked win for both Ouachita and himself this season. Despite weighing-in lighter than the traditional heavyweight, Seago went 9-2 in dual matches and won four straight bouts at the NCAA Central Regional IV Tournament to punch his ticket to the wrestling national championships in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Owasso, Oklahoma native is majoring in kinesiology, leisure, recreation and sport administration.

Day held a 13-11 record at 174 pounds, including six dual wins. The Oklahoma City native is pursuing a degree in criminal justice. Matyja recorded a 5-5 record at 197 pounds. The Benton native is majoring in civil engineering.

The NWCA recognized 433 student-athletes from 64 Division II institutions this year, including 51 wrestlers with perfect 4.0 GPAs.
