BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College wrestling team will host Williams Baptist and Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Wednesday.
Lyon Wrestling opened its season at the beginning of the month with a dual against the University of the Ozarks where the Scots fell 0-56. This past Saturday, the Scots participated in the Falcon Invite hosted by Friends University in Park City, Kansas. At the invite, Carlos Cuevas (157), J.J. Guerrero (165) and Ariston Bartley (184) won one match each for the men’s team.
For the women, Ashley Whetzal finished second in the 123 pound weight class. Kassidy Ramirez, Emma De Brum, Hailey Holland, Mikayla Wallace, Rebekah Garcia, and Alexandrea Banag all won matches in Saturday’s dual.
“It was a learning experience for us,” said the men’s head coach Chad Cook. “We need to get tougher and strive for a better effort. Things will get better from here.”
The first dual is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Becknell Gymnasium on Wednesday.
