Clarksville, Ark.- University of the Ozarks junior wrestler Nathan Rankin was named the NCAA Division III National Wrestler of the Week by D3Wrestling.com, it was announced Wednesday (November 17).
Rankin, from Plano, Texas, defeated returning NWCA National Champion Alex Friddle from Coe College, 7-6, in the semi-finals of the Luther College Open November 13. The 125-pounder is 7-1 on the season with his lone loss coming from NCAA Division I Jesse Ybarra of University of Iowa in the finals of the Luther College Open. Rankin won his match against Brandon Murphy from UW La Crosse in the Battle of the Bluffs event November 12. This is the first National Wrestler of the Week honor for the program.
D3Wrestle.com recently ranked Rankin as the No. 1 wrestler in NCAA III by at 125.
Rankin and the Eagles will head to Virginia for the Roanoke College Dual November 20 and the Roanoke College Star City Classic presented by the United States Marine Corps November 21.
