ARKADELPHIA – The Open Mat has included Ouachita wrestlers Jaylon Otero and Brooks Schrimsher in its latest release of national rankings for NCAA Division II.
Otero moved up one spot to No. 16 in this week’s rankings for the 157 pound class. The junior from Tulsa, Oklahoma has been Ouachita’s most successful wrestler this season so far with a 13-3 record. His only losses are in a dual against the defending D2 national champion and two losses to D1 wrestlers from Oklahoma State. Otero was unbeaten at the Dan Harris Open and the Viking Open, which led to him being named the MIAA Wrestler of the Week.
Schrimsher held on to his No. 14 national ranking this week in the 197 pound class. The junior from Huntsville, Alabama is 4-6 this season with his highlight of the year coming at the Dan Harris Open with a third-place finish. His most recent win was domination 13-1 major decision in a home dual against the University of the Ozarks.
Otero, Schrimsher, and the rest of the Tigers are back in action this Saturday, December at the Drury Open in Springfield, Missouri.
