Hays, Kan. – The Ouachita wrestling team dropped both matches in Kansas Saturday night, falling to 3-5 in the 2025-26 season.
The Tigers emerged victorious in just six of 20 bouts. Ouachita started the tri-meet gauntlet with a 37-6 loss against No. 25 Colorado School of Mines. After a scoreless first period, fifth-ranked 133-pounder Jimmy Anderson escaped from bottom position and secured the first takedown, then rode out the rest of the period to beat Hunter Samora 4-0. Junior heavyweight BK Seago scored a late third-period takedown to beat Laith Ibrahim 4-1 and pick up his sixth straight win.
Ouachita faced Fort Hays State in the second dual meet, falling just short by a final score of 23-17. Anderson earned a first period pin over Jett Schwartz in 1:51 to give the Tigers their only lead of the night and improved his record to 4-1 in his senior campaign. At 149 pounds, junior Caleb Andrews defeated Corbin White in a 9-5 decision to level the team score at 9-9 through four bouts.
Freshman 174-pounder Ethan Day secured six takedowns in five minutes to earn a 21-6 technical fall over Houston Frank and cut the deficit to 17-12 with just three bouts left. After Fort Hays State sealed the dual, Seago closed with a commanding 8-1 win over Jaxon Thomas to earn his seventh consecutive victory and improve his record to 7-1 this season.
Ouachita (3-5) competes in the Bob Smith Open on Sunday, hosted by Fort Hays State in Kansas.
