THE RUNDOWN
Ouachita Baptist wrestling finished eighth out of 10 teams at the NCAA Super Region IV Tournament in Edmond, Oklahoma on Sunday. Jackson Carter’s 2-2 record at 157 was the best by a Tiger wrestler on the day.
Carter lost his first-round match by 14-9 decision before picking up back-to-back victories. He pinned Kentucky Wesleyan’s Nick Ornelas in 1:11 and defeated Drury’s Ben Stahlman by 9-2 decision before losing to Newman’s Kendall Frame in the third-place semifinal round.
Noah Yeamans picked up a win at 125, beating Drury’s Blake Bills by 5-3 decision. Chase Howerton earned a win by major decision at 165, defeating Kentucky Wesleyan’s Thomas Karlo 14-0. At 184, Brady Marple defeated Central Missouri’s Bryce Faworski by 11-5 decision. Heavyweight Johnny Green was the only Tiger to win his opening match, pinning KWC’s Brennan McElroy in 1:18.
As a team, Ouachita finished ahead of Central Missouri and Kentucky Wesleyan. Full team results can be found here.
