Wrestling Goes Undefeated at Davidson Duals

DAVIDSON, North Carolina – The Little Rock Trojans put on a dominant display at the multi-team dual event, claiming decisive victories over Brown, Morgan State, and Davidson to secure first place. The team showcased impressive performances across multiple weight classes, demonstrating their depth and strength on the mat.

Little Rock 28, Brown 13 

Little Rock opened the competition with a commanding 28-13 win over Brown. Tyson Roach set the tone at 125 lbs with a hard-fought 5-3 decision over Jared Brunner. Brennan Van Hoecke followed up at 141 lbs with an electrifying 15-9 decision over Giuseppe Iamunno. The Trojans gained momentum as Jordan Williams (149 lbs) and Matty Bianchi (157 lbs) secured major decision victories. Joseph Bianchi (165 lbs) delivered an emphatic 19-2 technical fall over Keegan Rothrock, while Tyler Brennan (174 lbs) controlled his match for a 10-0 major decision. At 197 lbs, Stephen Little added another technical fall (19-4) to solidify the win. Despite a couple of setbacks, including a sudden victory loss at 184 lbs, the Trojans remained in control throughout the dual.

Little Rock 41, Morgan State 6

The Trojans continued their dominant run with a 41-6 rout of Morgan State. Roach once again led the charge with a 17-2 technical fall at 125 lbs. Van Hoecke delivered a statement win at 141 lbs, pinning Myrin Nixon in just 2:29. Williams (149 lbs) and Matty Bianchi (157 lbs) added decision and major decision victories, respectively. Joseph Bianchi (165 lbs) secured another dominant win, taking a 17-4 major decision. Tyler Brennan edged out a tight 1-0 decision at 174 lbs, while Triston Wills (184 lbs) and Stephen Little (197 lbs) each recorded technical falls. Branson Britten closed out the dual at heavyweight with an overwhelming 15-0 technical fall.

Little Rock 38, 9 Davidson 

In their final dual of the day, Little Rock overpowered Davidson 38-9. Roach once again led off with a gritty 8-6 decision at 125 lbs. Williams (149 lbs) secured the only fall of the dual for the Trojans at 4:43, while Matty Bianchi (157 lbs) and Joseph Bianchi (165 lbs) continued their dominant performances with a technical fall and major decision, respectively. Tyler Brennan (174 lbs) and Brock DelSignore (184 lbs) both delivered technical falls, keeping the Trojans’ momentum alive. Wills (197 lbs) won by forfeit, and Britten capped off another strong showing with a 10-2 major decision at heavyweight.

Little Rock’s dominant performance across three duals solidifies their standing as a formidable team this season. With multiple wrestlers securing bonus-point victories and key wins in crucial matchups, the Trojans demonstrated their depth and resilience. As they move forward in the season, Little Rock looks poised to continue their success on the mat.

The Trojans return to the Rocktagon to kick off Pac-12 action with Oregon State January 24th at 7 p.m.
