Conway, Ark. – A wild weekend of Central Baptist College Athletics wrapped up on Saturday with homecoming festivities inside Reddin Fieldhouse. Here’s a recap of what happened this past Saturday:
WRESTLING
The CBC wrestling team competed in the American Midwest Conference Duals this weekend in Batesville at Becknell Gymnasium. CBC went 1-2 in the competition, defeating Missouri Baptist 22-18 in the first match before losing to both Lincoln College and Lyon College in the other two matches. Endrick Theodore, Christian Richer, Alejandro Mas and Brian Mas all posted wins, with Theodore winning by forfeit twice at 141 pounds, Richer winning twice, once by major decision and once by decision at 165 pounds, Alejandro Mas winning by forfeit at 157 pounds and Brian Mas winning by decision at 149 pounds. CBC wrestling is back on the mat this weekend in Marshall, Mo., at the Missouri Valley College Open.
INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
Ally Swaim won the 60-meter hurdles again this past Saturday at the Principia Relays. Swaim finished with a time of 9.02, besting her previous time of 9.08 to qualify for the NAIA National Meet. Isaiah Stiger and Isiaih Patterson both competed in the long jump, while Jadon Price competed in the shot put. Indoor Track & Field is off until the 19th of Feb., when they head to Elsah, Ill., for the AMC Championship.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The Lady Mustangs followed up a 78-68 loss to Williams Baptist on Thursday night with a 72-55 win over Hannibal-LaGrange on homecoming Saturday. Aminata Seck recorded her 14th double-double of the season in Saturday’s win with 18 points and 12 rebounds. CBC will be on the road in Missouri for two AMC contests this weekend. The Lady Mustangs will play Stephens College in Columbia on Thursday night before heading to UHSP in St. Louis on Saturday.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
CBC followed an 86-83 loss to Williams Baptist on Thursday night with a 71-49 win over Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday. CBC had very balanced scoring, with no one posting over 15 points and four players finishing in double figures. The Mustangs are off until Saturday when they head to Missouri to take on UHSP.
