After claiming first place in the Southern Scuffle last weekend, the Pac-12 voted Nasir Bailey as this week’s Wrestler of the Week.

“I’m happy for Nasir. He’s worked hard, even through some trials. He has found a way and he’s on track!”
Head Coach Neil Erisman on Nasir Bailey

The honors come after a dominant performance from Nasir Bailey. Bailey went 5-0 on the weekend, outscoring his opponents 61-7 with 3 tech falls, a decision, and a big overtime victory to win the championship.

Bailey took his first 3 matches seemingly with ease, posting 16-0, 17-0, and 16-1 tech fall victories, earning a spot in Sunday’s semifinal round. It was then that Bailey found his first true test. North Dakota State’s Kyle Durwick gave a valiant effort, but Bailey ultimately reigned supreme with an 8-5 victory.

In the championship round, Bailey faced a familiar opponent—Northern Colorado’s Dom Serrano—who had beaten him in last year’s Southern Scuffle. With a championship and revenge on the line, Bailey took to the mat with confidence. The first round ended in a 0-0 tie, then both wrestlers earned points for escapes in rounds 2 and 3. It all came down to overtime, where Bailey scored a quick takedown to secure the sudden victory. Bailey now starts the 2025 year 5-0 with a tournament championship under his belt.

The Trojans return to action this weekend at the NWCA National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
