Perovic Finishes in 6th to Lead Eagles at National Tournament

WICHITA, Kan. – Nikolas Perovic finished in sixth place in his class at the NAIA national tournament to lead the Eagles wrestling team. With his sixth place finish, he earns All-American status.

Perovic started the event ranked 9th in the 184 class. In his opening match, he defeated #8 Luke Jenness by a sudden victory. He lost in the quarterfinal round to #1 Ben Lee by a major decision. In the consolation round, he defeated his first opponent by a 3-2 decision and his second opponent by a medical forfeit. He advanced to the consolation semifinal and lost to #3 Kyle Knudtson by a tech fall. He lost the fifth place match to #7 Jesse Daniel Perez by a 7-4 decision. 

Josh Wright competed in the 133 class and lost his opening round match by a 5-3 decision. He lost his consolation round match by a fall. 

Isaiah Vizcarrondo competed in the 141 class and lost his opening round match by a 4-3 decision. He lost his consolation round match by a 9-4 decision.

Nicholas Souder competed in the 149 class and won his opening round match by a 5-4 decision. He won his next match over #6 Avry Mutschler by a fall. He lost his quarterfinal matchup against #3 Brevin Balmaceda by a 9-5 decision. He lost his consolation round match to #5 Andreus Bond by a 4-1 decision. 

Isaiah Sellers competed in the 174 class and lost his opening round match #1 Joe Koontz by a major decisoin. He lost his consolation round match by a 3-2 decision. 

The Eagles finished in 27th place with 16 points.
